Their staff team has this system where they would appoint someone to look after one hall in the facility. Everyone there is very helpful, caring and supportive of her.

As far as my mother’s care goes, I give them a 5-star rating. My mother has been here for a little bit over a month and we are very pleased. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Anna brother Merl son-in-law Larry Agent and two brother-in-laws, David Wood Gish and Stewart Harral. Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Norman son Bill Freeland and his wife Libby of Eureka Springs, AR daughter Judy of Norman four granddaughters, Kristin Agent-Meier and husband Scott of Norman, Megan Agent-Curry and husband Jay of Norman, Ellen Freeland of Fayetteville, AR and Emy Freeland of Eureka Springs, AR grandson Will Agent of Norman and sister Opal Freeland-Hueneke of Tulsa. Other interests included gardening, real-estate and finance. He was a long-time support of the University of Oklahoma and an OU football season ticket holder for 59 years.

At the university, he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity. He was also actively involved with civic organizations including the Norman Lion's Club, Norman Chamber of Commerce, 32 degree Mason, and the Norman Shrine Club. Freeland was a member of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church for over 75 years. He also served as Secretary Manager of the Board of Trustees until his retirement in 1979. He became General Manager following the death of Ted Beaird in 1949. Following the war, he returned to Norman and resumed his career with the Student Union. While in the Army he was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star, achieving the rank of Major. From 1942-1946 he enlisted in the field artillery branch of the United States Army and served in South Pacific region during World War II. He was soon promoted to Operations Manager in addition to overseeing the south wing expansion to the facility. Freeland assumed the position of Financial Secretary at the Oklahoma Memorial Student Union. Freeland moved to Norman in 1930 where he graduated from Norman High School and later the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. They had two children, Judy Freeland-Agent and Bill Freeland. He married Dorothy Gish-Freeland on February 3, 1946. Hillyer was born Augin Cresent, OK to Willis and Anna Taliaferro-Freeland.

Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Norman. Monday at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman with the Rev. FREELAND William Hillyer Freeland, 92, of Norman died Wednesday, May 3 at Arbor House Reminisce Center attended by his family.
